I enjoyed this story, and I haven't read its predecessor, A Time to Kill. Jake Brigance is one of the most likeable protagonists I've read in some time. Who would have suspected one could make a legal suspense novel from a probate case? I saw the end coming from a mile away, but the journey getting there was very satisfying.
